Abstract
Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar was a scholar extraordinaire with two masters and Barrister-at-Law, along with these he had four doctoral degrees with proficiency in European and Indian languages (such as Sanskrit). He was born into a so-called untouchable family thereby making it extra difficult to attain such eclectic educational feats. Even with current standards, it is difficult to hypothesize the scale of Dr. Ambedkar’s accomplishments. Dr. Ambedkar was also popularly known as Babasaheb which simply translates to “revered father”. Because Babasaheb was the champion of the Dalit cause, a true traditional reformer who sought to abolish the hegemonic practices of upper castes. Babasaheb wrote a remarkable number of books and articles throughout his entire lifespan. Several of which have still not seen the light of day. But the contents of the already available material testify to the towering intellectual acumen of Babasaheb Ambedkar. His vision was based on euphoric trust in Western enlightenment and the idea of progress and social improvement through industrialization and urbanization (similar to that of the Nehruvian point of view). This article provides testimonials of nearly five to six-decade-old Dr. Ambedkar’s visions and thoughts for modern India as the founding father of modern India.
