Abstract
The banking profession is seen as one of the most conservative of all professions. It requires prudent, safe, and best practices for its sustenance. The objective of this article is to review some of the risks posed in the global banking environment in general and Zambia in particular. Some theoretical management and strategic models are reviewed. The article refers to bank failures which were triggered by both external and internal factors. Banking practices are responding to the changes in the macro and micro environments during this fourth industrial revolution, and also in these COVID-19 times of global disruption which offer opportunities for analysis of innovative banking methods. The author adopted the method of secondary data collection as well as using the qualitative approach of content analysis. The review approach adopted was to allow for using exploratory and deductive approaches for valid conclusions to be arrived at.
